    Anyone else a chronic hyperventilator?

    I'm pretty sure that I'm a chronic hyperventilator. I am always yawning for breath and taking deep gasping breaths. I also get a lot of pain in my chest. These symptoms make me feel dizzy, tired, anxious and chest.

    Sometimes these feelings go away if I concentrate on something else, but I seem to have had this permanently for about 6 weeks now.

    I know the thing to do is to try and do breathing exercises, but I just can't seem to do them correctly, and then get myself in more of a panic because of this.

    Does anyone else have this? Any advice?

    I've been a chronic hyperventilator forever. I'd been doing for so long that I didn't even realise I was hyperventilating continually until my psychiatrist asked me to breathe in for 5 seconds and out for 7 and I found it impossible!

    Have you tried yoga and meditation. I do these and they've been helping a lot.

    I get into a panic sometimes with the breathing exercises, it's normal to panic when we focus on something so much.

    I'd definitely try yoga. or even google some yoga breathing exercises. They've helped me amazingly

    Nice to hear it's not just me who does it Amieekid.

    Do you do it on and off most of the time or just occasionally?

    What symptoms do you get from doing it?

    Does it cause panic?

    I used to do this pretty much all the time. It made me feel really dizzy and tingly. Its not pleasant. I still do it from time to time. I just tried not to think about and keep myself distracted when it happened and it eventually got better but i know its something i'me prone to when i feel really anxious or panicky. xxx
