    trapped wind ........ any tips

Having a really hard time with this at the moment and nothing seems to help. Can hear and feel it popping and its driving me mad!!!!
I,ve tried peppermint tea and the over the counter stuff and nothing seems to work. Any tips on how to get rid of it or to prevent it in the first place ?
Also can tension and anxiety cause you to trap wind in your stomach ?
    Thanks

Re: trapped wind ........ any tips

    Hi,

I was diagnosed with IBS about a yr ago and have had a rew minor flare ups, but just recently, i have been having more problems. Wind is one of the main issues too. I can hear mine popping all the time and it's quite embarrassing.
I don't know what to recommend. I have tried Deflatine, but it doesn't really help. I can't eat certain foods now as they make my wind really bad, like a curry or baked beans.
The wind is causing my irregular heartbeats too at the moment. I am bloated and feel quite full up most of the time.
I hope someone can give some good tips on this issue as i would love a good remedy.
Sitting in the cinema at the quiet parts is a tad embarrasing.

If the trapped wind is higher up in your chest area... pat your chest firmly for a while (not to hard though as it hurts) as if you were winding a baby... if you have someone else with you get them to pat your back firmly in the same way.

    It dislodges the trapped wind.

I tend to dring something fizzy if possible first and then do it... although it doesn't sound very ladylike when it all releases

PS sometimes wind trapped in the chest area can feel like irregular heartbeats when it 'bubbles'.
