Hi, Me too, not the retching thing, but woke up with acid stomach and feeling queasy. I am sure if you let it get to you ie anxiety about it and your health it immediately develops worse. Try to forget about it, hard I know as its awful. Did you feel anxious at the thought of going to this party, strange place and lots of people by any chance?

sorry you are feeling so sickly now Rosie and Lucy .......I hate it too.
but do find if I sip ice cold water .no gulping ..........and sugar free gum to chew helps sometimes .
please try not to stick your fingers down your throat Rosie .easy for me to say I know . try the sipping ice water instead .....and soda water really does work for letting all that air in tummy out xx
and thank you for making me smile on this thread

Thanks Lucy and Snow Goose. Lucy you are right, I just suddenly imagined how awful this party would be and freaked out. I hate making myself retch I just can't stop when I am Nausious. I think it is worse when I feel hungry, I don't know about anyone else but my anxiety is always worse when tired or hungry.
Anyhow as day progressed I managed to start feeling better, no handbags needed rescuing this time!
Lucy I hope your day got better too!!!xx

hi, yes i have this, mine is dry heaving, a really sensitive gag reflex and so worse in the morning, mine starts about mid morning, mine affects talking the most, i really find it hard to have a conversation with people and i can it feel it rising in the pit of my stomach and i have now become addicted to tictacs and sweets, it does distract the throat a bit. I have also found that if you tip your head back and stroke your throat it helps relax it. it has become a real pain in the butt and has put me off going out and socialising as i worry im going to start gagging!!!

    Re: Retching and Vomiting

    Howdy people,

It's been many years but I'm back again and on my birthday! Was supposed to be going out for a meal with my family today and woke up with the urge to heave and felt panicky. Something I've not had for a good few years!
My doctor gave me some pills for a skin infection a week ago so I decided to look at the leaflet and it says they interact with SSRIs! (which I take a small dose of to keep anixety in check). Reading a bit more and it says these pills can lessen the effect that the SSRIs can have! No s**t!

So today I'm back to the periods of wanting to heave, especially when talking! Just thought I'd add to the thread as a fellow sufferer. My 10mg of Citalopram usually makes it bareable and the bouts few and far between. (Not that I'm saying anyone should start Citalopram as a quick cure).

    Cheers,

    Mark

    Re: Retching and Vomiting

    Hi,

I thought i had conquered my retching...and each time i think ive got it...it comes back!! i was beginning to wonder if it was anxiety related as i had been feeling so much better recently, but yesterday i went to a dancing lesson (nothing unusual i do this regularly) and i noticed the familiar sick/gagging feeling, i had to quickly pop a sweet in my mouth and pray i didnt gag mid lesson!! i am wondering whether it is food related? acid or something as i didnt feel in the least bit anxious or stressed yesterday, god i wish i knew and i could get rid of this damn thing altogether as its ruining my life!!
