    anxiety as side-effect of mirtazapine?

    hi there,

i am just wondering if anyone else has experienced increased anxiety as a result of taking mirtazapine. i am wondering if this is a side-effect that will wear off with time or if i need to head back to my GP's for a med rethink.

it'd be good to hear from anyone who has experienced this.

    thanks, amy

Hi,i have experienced bad anxiety whilst taking Mirtazapine (15mg and 30mg),it is driving me mad but i do get some sleep from taking it,so i guess i have to keep taking the tablets. I have found Mirtazapine heightens my senses,so to speak,if im in a situation where i would feel a bit nervous,i feel about double the amount of tension. I have tried other ADs but they gave me even worse insomnia than i have already,so i couldnt stick with them. Lets hope we feel better soon.

Yes I had to cut back to 15mg after going upto 30mg then come off them. I was on them a 14 months. Anxiety started to take over near the end badly.

Thanks for the reply Steveh31,my sleep was lousy before i took Mirtazapine,i was awake for night after night,so in a wierd way am not looking forward to coming off it,even though i know deep down it is causing this intense anxiety. Im glad your sleep/anxiety levels went back to being what they were before.
