Health anxiety is bad right now because of my period

My breasts started becoming sore when the more moderate/heavyish bleeding started 5 days ago. I actually read about that and it said hormonal as well, I'm hoping that's all it is.

I'm low iron to begin with, so all the bleeding is really scaring me. But I've been taking an iron pill every day, and trying to eat iron enriched foods as well, until I can see my doctor.

I'm not on birth control and I'm only 23. If it's something hormonal, would they put me on BC to get it back on track? I'm actually a little scared of taking birth control because of any side effects. :(

Hello ladies,

So this morning I went and visited my doctor about everything that's been happening. She really thinks it could be PCOS, and has requested that I do some blood work as well as get a transvaginal ultrasound on Friday. (That's what I'm most nervous about).

I feel a little better about my situation, just because I finally got to see a professional. She told me to take Advil instead of Tylenol as it will help lessen the flow. Knowing that she isn't too concerned made me feel more relaxed!
