Colonoscopy and Endoscope! Advice Please

Hello all!

I have been having long standing stomach issues and bowel problems with:

- Bloating
- Burping
- Feeling sick
- Generalised abdominal pain
- Different colours, shapes and styles of stool!

I've had blood tests (liver function, full blood count etc) which all came back clear with no apparent sign of inflamation in my body and a stool sample which was the same.

However I have health anxiety so naturally didn't believe my doctors and subsequently I've been sent for the tests.

I was just looking to seak a bit of advice really, has anybody had either test? I've had an Endoscope before which I hated so I'm very nervous about that one but I've never had a Colonoscopy and to be honest I'm really scared.

The prep has frightened me and I'm not sure what to expect with regards to the test itself. So any advice would be appreciated

Hi I have had endoscopy and colonoscopy and both without sedation, this was due to my fear of sedation lol. I have got to be honest the prep is not pleasant but not as bad as people say. I found it hard going without food or drink until 3pm in the afternoon , which was the time of my test. If I was doing it again I would definitely have sedation for the colonoscopy, just because I found it uncomfortable. Other people have no problem though. I thought I had bowel or liver cancer despite normal blood tests but diagnoses was IBS. Good luck.

Just to add, I had the endoscopy first and then the colonoscopy. Sometimes it's better to have them done on the same day as it just gets it over with.

Thank you, yes they are doing both of them on the same day. I'm so worried about both of them!

I have myself HA convinced I have cancer so it feels a bit like D Day

I can relate to that but I had what I thought were horrible symptoms and it was all ok. I had mine done in 2012 and now feel I need them both doing again, my doctor disagrees , he is probably right to be honest. Good luck
