Can't cope anymore breathing issues and throat

For 3 months every time I breathe in it feels like my throats collapses in on itself or tightens up and I make a snoring sound. I have a lump in my throats near my vocal cords and feel like I need to be sick.

I haven't been able to eat nothing but soup and build up drinks because my thrust tightens up and I choke on the tiniest amount of food.

I do have reflux which I have been taking ranitidine for the last 3 years for.

This all started after a vomiting bug.

    Hi Katie

I'm assuming you have had this checked out by a GP?.

Globus hystericus is one of the worst symptoms I ever had with anxiety. It feels so physical and once you have it, it's very difficult to distract from. I was forever convinced my throat was going to close over which is very frightening. However it is just a feeling that feeds from our anxiety.

What are you most afraid of?..That it's going to harm you?.

    Hi

I'm afraid of me never feeling normal again and always having this choking feeling. Or that I will actually choke and not be able to breathe completely. I'm afraid that it's vocal cord dysfunction.

It's so frustrating. It really is a horrible symptom.

I've looked back at my lists and I've had this since 2009 on and off.

My throat seems very over sensitive to every feeling.

I know it's horrible but it can't and won't do you any harm at all. It's probably triggered by the sickness bug you had.

It's one of those where the more you focus on it, the worse you feel but it's hard not to focus on it when it's just there constantly. (Argh swings and roundabouts eh?) I used to live on polo mints because the menthol seem to make me "think" I could breath better.

Has your GP recommended anything? xx

when I eat or swallow a pill it always feels like it's stuck on the right hand side of my throat but I don't feel it really like when I wake up. could this still be globus ?
