White sticky phelgm causing choking and coughing fits

I don't know what causes it and why I have it, but for months now I have been suffering with this white sticky phlegm which catches in my throat and causes me to have a coughing fit and it feels like I am choking.
It even wakes me from my sleep. It's so sticky, you could probably use it like glue. Never had it before and it doesn't seem to be going away. It's normally worse in the morning. It's so horrible.
Does anyone else suffer with this?

It sounds like post-nasal drip. Have you tried a sinus rinse? Taking Sudafed or some other sinus decongestant? Many nose sprays also help with this as well.

I had a feeling it may be a postnasal drip thing.
I have these bouts of continuous sneezing and sometimes my nose runs for no reason.
And other times, I seemed to be blocked-up! My eyes stream as well.

Yeah that sounds similar to what I get with mine it is awful and tends to attack at the best of times lol I find mine first in the mornings x

Carnation, is it the same as the mucus issue you had the other year? I remember it as swgrl mentioned neti-pots, something I'd never heard off.

So, it's it something that comes at certain times of the year? I can't remember if it was winter last time.

Could it be a candida issue?

Not the same but I had laryngitis for 2 months last year and finally figured out it was candida and treated with antifungals got rid of it almost immediately. I was quite phlegmy as well.

Any white patches in your mouth?

What a good memory you have.
No, it's not the same as what I had before.
This is a coughing fit with nothing rising???
But then I eventually get this very thin, clear and sticky substance, the sort you get from your nose when you blow it, but it's in my mouth!!
It started in October, so it could be a winter thing???

Shaz, I did question whether it was candida, because I had an on-going gum infection and all sorts of problems, but I do think it is my sinuses now.
I have these sneezing fits of about 30 times. My nose seems to run like crazy when I go out and I get pain in my head and face. x

Strange, but since this post, it seems to have cleared up????
Now, I've typed that, it will probably come back?

No, if it was post-nasal drip it will clear up on its own, it just takes awhile sometimes.
