Shane , do not take more than prescribed as it can affect your blood pressure and heart rate.
may doctors say though that you can take your tablet when you feel anxious and not necessarily at the same time each day so maybe discuss that option with them.

    Hope you're feeling better.

My doctor has prescribed my propranolol too. Mine are 10mg tablets and are to be taken as required.

She told me to take one or two (10mg tablets)if I feel panicky and they should help as they slow the heart rate and stop production of andrenaline so should reduce the feeling of panic.

Discuss with your doctor the best dose and time to take them.

    hi

Ive been on these for a few weeks now, was on 10mg once in mornin and eve but i could feel them wearing off mid afternoon, so my doc has told me to take one 3 times a day.

They have definatly helped with the palps/racing heart, which in turn helps with my other anxiety symptoms.

Ive not had any side effects.

Shane - please note that yours are 40 mg so you cannot go doubling up.

You could discuss getting 10 mg ones and being able to take them more flexibly.

    Hi

    Propanalol

I was first prescribed these beta blockers a few years ago and was taking 2 x 40mg twice a day. They definetely helped the palpitations but i found i was quite dizzy with them.

My new GP has now reduced down to 1 x 10mg three times a day and feel fine on them. (i cut down gradually and was fine)

I take them every day and not just when i need them.
