    Can these make things worse?

On day 3 and my anxiety is worse than normal!

Usually without pills its bearable most of the time, but have just came out the Gym and feel all panicky (last panic attack was Dec 08!)

On 10mg, taken this morning at 8am(ish).

I suffered from heightened anxiety in the first couple of weeks - awful, because I wasn't really suffering from physical anxiety symptoms much before I started the pills.

I've been on 10mg for 3.5 weeks now, and have had 5 good days in a row now - a huge improvement to this time lastweek.

Keep going! It WILL get better.

I found the citalopram made me feel a lot worse for around 10 days. After day 10, the side effects did not get worse. By the end of week 2 my sleeping patterns had returned to normal.

During the third week on citalopram I noticed the first genuine signs of relief from my anxiety and general sense of negativity.

You need to keep taking citalopram. No medicine available today works immediately. They all take weeks. It is definitely worth sticking with it though.

I agree that the side effects can make you feel worse, but what I had a problem with was being able to carry-on as normal at work. I couldn't have done this when I started an anti-depressant recently, it was awful and I'm no cissy!! Being off work is a huge issue for me. I had to stop them and it took me a few days to feel "normal" again. Makes me worry if I have to take them again. I don't feel anything for other people having to be off work but for me this is a big issue as it makes me feel as though I'm carrying on as normal. So I feel sorry for anyone who has these awful side effects.
