has anyone heard of being left with chronic headaches after coming off SSRIS after many years or is this just my health anxiety !

SSRIs and other antidepressants which principally affect serotonin may trigger headaches when first taken and for a week or two after quitting.

Serotonin is not just a brain neurotransmitter, it also has many other functions in the body, including mediating blood vessel tone - constriction and dilation. Serotonergic antidepressants can affect this for a while until the body adjusts. They are also mild anticoagulants which may also have an impact, though it is a smaller effect.

However, it is unlikely that such headaches would/could continue for more than a week, or two. If they persist you and your doctor probably need to look elsewhere. How is you blood pressure? It maybe have spiked since you quit the SSRI.
