    Lightbulb Sertraline, Ocd Intrusive Thoughts

Just coming to the end of day 13 on Sertraline, first 8 days on 50mg then on 100mg for the following 5, also taking 2.5mg Diazepam every 4 hours aswell as 3.75mg Zopiclone before bed!!! Feel as if i'm rattling!!

Is it possible that the increase in Sertraline could be causing an increase in intrusive thoughts?.. feeling pretty cr**py at the moment, ocd is not letting up, feeling pretty groggy, have a bad headache and just generally feel on edge.

Doc wants me to eventually go upto 150mg, but at the moment i just don't think i could cope with the added anxiety.

Would appreciate any words of wisdom

been on setraline now for 18 days. started on 50mg and now upped to 100mg for the last five days. I think it definatley can make you feel more anxious to begin with, but i am finding my thoughts less intrusive over the last couple of days. I do take diazapam when it gets a bit too much. feeling on edge is exactly how i would describe how i have been feeling and bit breathless. Gonna stick with them cause i have read really positive messages about them. Hope this helps Jayne x

Thanks for the reply Jayne, just think i'm gonna have to stick with it aswell, just wish it would start taking care of the thoughts, mood feels like it is lifting tho, i'll have to keep my fingers crossed.

hi guys, I've been on sertraline for about 9 years now and to be honest I can't remember how it affected me, whether I got more anxious or not when I first started taking them I can just remember thinking 'aarrghh when will these meds start to help!'
But I really do think they help if you're struggling with compulsions, I'm not entirely sure how they help with general anxiety because I still have pretty bad anxiety.
Is it your GP who is asking you to increase or a physc? I know sometimes that GP's have a bad press for just throwing more pills at you if things aren't working but I think if a mind specialist recommends you up the dose I'd definitley trust him
I really hope you find some kind of relief xx
