Thumbs up Recovered Emetophobe here to help!

    Hi Guys n Girls,

Miss cherry (aka Hannah) here. I'm new to no panic and have a lot of experience in dealing with emetophobia. By 'recovered' I mean it no longer plagues my every waking though like it once did....and it took me 2 rounds of CT/exposure therapy to get here. I do have the occasional relapse every now and again but have developed amazing coping strategies and have even written an Ebook on it to help other as I know the absolute misery this phobia causes.

I currently have a cold which set me off on a bit of a panic (as it came with an upset tummy) but I'm dealing.

Anyhow here to help if you need it Xxx

    Hiya,

I'm new here just signed up as my emetophobia seems to have got worse in the last year or so, I don't know what I can do to control it and it's beginning to get me down cause if I know or hear of anyone that is sick I stay well away, I am also getting bad in busy places, don't like socialising much Incase someone is ill.
I'm very funny with food too and what I eat, I am always cleaning my hands when I get the chance, and if I feel sick I start to panic and I make myself feel even worse, I don't know what to do to get over it, even saying the word sick makes me panic, it's controlling my life, me and my partner want kids one day and I even panic then as I know I will probably get morning sickness and if the baby gets ill how will I cope :-( it's getting me really down and would like to over Come this fear.

Hope to hear from you soon xx

It really rules my life and always has done for as long as I can remember.. My phobia developed more than just sick though, is diarrhoea too but from this phobia I've become agoraphobic, claustrophobic, scared of eating most things except chicken soup, bread and crackers and I don't leave my house as I'm terrified of picking up a bug!

It's constantly a struggle to live with the reality of knowing your gonna get sick one day and you can stop it. So for me I have been feeling sick everyday always thinking Im gonna throw up especially today since its flu season and I saw throw up at school today along with a few of my friend getting sick. I don't know what to believe anymore, like everyday my brain like to trick me into thinking Im sick but then I don't throw up but today I feel really sick but then I feel good again randomly. So please help Im trying not to ask for reassurance but I want to learn more ways to tell being really sick or just anxiety. Along with that if you could please give me some tips. So if anyone else feels this way they can relate too.
