    Smile Tickly cough with fever

Okay I'll try to keep it shorter this time for the sake of getting down to the point and everyone's sanity, since my last/first post didn't get any replies and should be ignored at this point since the symptoms changed a lot.

So the main two things which have been bothering me are my persistent, yet very ocassional dry cough, always brought up by a tickle in my throat, accompanied by a low-grade fever (never above 37.5C).

I've visited countless doctors after suffering from similar things for a month or so initially, specialists too, did full blood and urine analyses, chest x-rays and even got checked by an ENT with an ultrasound of the neck. All came back clear. This was about a month ago, which is also when the fever ceased completely, out of the blue. I was happy, as the tests and scans were good and I had finally improved -- fever gone.

So it was gone for a month and now it's back, the exact same thing. Cough never left but noticably improved, I now cough very rarely, a few times a day, instead of every 10 mins or so (which is how it was when it began).

Basically, I'm back to square one, tickly throat and low-grade fever. I'm pretty convinced at this point it's not head and neck, nor lung cancer, since it doesn't add up at all. Also can't be pneumonia or bronchitis since nothing impactful points to them, and I'd be feeling a lot worse with more symptoms. Infact, I feel relatively fine, which is the worst of it all in a way.

Every doctor I visited said I had a post-infectious cough which makes sense, but should it really last for this long, however mild it is, and should I be having a low-grade fever?

Final point is, I don't feel like it's necessary to go to doctors anymore, since I covered pretty much everything that made any sense checking out. But I'm still obviously worried and slightly paranoid, especially because of the fever. How can a fever, however mild, last a month, then disappear for a month, and then come back just the way it was before?

Thanks to everybody who decides to chip in, or read at the very least. Cheers!

It really sounds like it's waning. Other than the lingering cough and and an occasional low grade fever you're fine otherwise right? Sometimes these things take time. And 99.5 is really not considered a fever. Until it's over 100 consistently, then medically it's not a fever.

First of all thank you for the reply, it means a lot.

And yeah, I feel fine otherwise, nothing out of the realm of 'normality', so I can't really complain. Guess the main reason I'm worried at all is because it's all so vague and inconclusive.

Might well just be taking its time, true. Hope it's just that.

    Cheers
