    Feel my heart beating

    hi All

    Does anyone feel their heart beating when i lie down it happens sometimes when i sit up it happens. It's not all the time but when it does it feels weird like i've ran a race or run up the stairs and you can feel your heart beating. I don't feel anxious or panicky.

    I hope you can help with this

    Yes, its normal to hear it in certain positions.

    Hi Lin,
    A couple of weeks ago I became hyper sensitive to the beating of my heart, the strength, the rythmn just the general feel, it was strange coz hearts had never really been my fear. I mentioned it to my GP who is fantastic and she told me it was quite normal when in a state of anxiety to feel things more obviously than normal.

    hey linda,
    don't worry, this happens to me all the time - i can't do anything like run for a bus or anything that might vaguely get my heart going. yet another excuse to not go to the gym!
    taking a few deep breaths usually sorts it out for me.

    Hi Linda,

    Just wanted to let you know that this was the major focus of my anxiety, for months on end. I would constantly feel the pounding of my heart (it was racing as well). Once I realized that focusing on it made it worse, and worked on ignoring it/distracting myself, it has almost completely dissapeared! Just get 5 minute "episodes" less than once a week, which is nothing compared to before. Work on forgetting about it, and it will get better!
