    Unhappy Dizziness/vertigo/swaying

Is anyone else constantly dizzy? Since about last week, I've been dizzy constantly and I feel as if I'm physically swaying back and forth. It gets more noticeable when I am looking at a screen or if I move my head. Has anyone else had something similar? I've read a lot on this forum about people having vertigo or dizziness "attacks", but mine is constant. It seems to be worse at night. I'm really hoping this isn't gonna last forever. I quit using cannabis recently so at first I was attributing it to that, but now I'm thinking that's not the case. Does anyone else have this?

    Please helppppppppp, thank you :(

    Hi,

If this is of any help I suffer with dizziness / head-pressure / off-balance feeling which builds gradually throughout the day and seems to be worse when in environments where I am not happy (like the workplace) - I have also had a bout of vertigo where the room was literally spinning around me, like being drunk but had not touched any alcohol.

Have been to see my doctor, a neurologist and have had the results back today from an MRI scan which have all thankfully found nothing wrong physically. The neurologist has prescribed me meds for tension / anxiety which I must say certainly has helped ease the awful head pressure feeling. If you are concerned, then please do visit your doctor who will be able to rule out any potential physical problems, it is hard to comprehend just how powerful the mind is....

Yep, i've been dizzy and off balance 24/7 non stop and unrelenting since the end of July 2017. This is after feeling dizzy off and on since Chrismas 2016. To be honest i'm 100% sure mine is nothing to do with anxiety as i have other health issues going on.

Crispy out of interest, how long did you have to wait for your neurology appt? I've just had my appt come through for the start of may and it's been a 27 week wait.

    Hi Matt,

I think I had around 6 months odd wait to see the neurologist but was prepared to wait as I was so concerned. I too thought it could not be just anxiety / stress causing the head pressure / dizziness / vertigo because at the time I took quite a head injury from football (I was taken to hospital and had to be glued back together) and was convinced that either this or a tumor was causing the problem.

If you are worried then please do see the specialist and have the scan. Our brains our very complex and powerful, your state of mind can have a strong effect over our well being, if you look around forums there are plenty of other people reporting the same symptoms. Can anxiety / stress / depression cause your surroundings to spin or to feel 'unreal' well it appears so, it's our brains response of defending you from the situation.

I had a massive panic attack in January 2016. I found blood on the toilet for a unrelated issue which has been checked out. But the blood and lightheadedness experienced from the loss of blood/sight of blood caused me to have a panic attack. After that... I had this sensation like I’m on a boat rocking/swaying ever since. I thought I was cured in August 2016 when I had 3 weeks of no symptoms. I was doing daily meditation and was extremely busy/preoccupatied. So I’ve no idea which made it go away... perhaps both??

Anyway, it came back when I got food poisoning and was fearing I was going to vomit. It’s been with me every since. Also, these aren’t ‘attacks’. This is generally 24/7, usually not present in the first few hours of wakening and it’s at it’s worse at work from 11am - 3/4pm.

There’s a whole lot more sensations that go along with mine, like a sinking or bouncing sensation sometimes. Different environments affect it also. If I’m in a chip shop... I feel weird. It must be the lightiing. Do a search for ‘swaying’ or ‘boat’ on here... quite a few have this.

Yes! I'm sorry you're feeling this way, it is terrible! Anxiety can cause dizziness, but there are also many many illnesses ir conditions that cause it too (and a high percentage of them are not the bad things we fear here!). I myself have been told I've got a vestibular problem for 3 months now, and had MRIs last week that should show no evil things going on in my brain/neck just to be safe! 🤞

The important thing I want to share is that even if anxiety is not the cause of your dizzy feeling, from experience I can tell you that anxiety will make it feel much worse than it really is! It's tough for sure since the feeling literally is throwing your world off balance! My best tip is to try and be as present and mindful about what's going on "outside you" than "inside you". And certainly go see a doctor if you are concerned!

    Best wishes!

I've had this for many years. I have improved a bit. As long as you're in a state of mental arousal and vigilance your symptoms will remain.

I started having the feeling like I'm on a boat for 6 days now. I was on a boat Thursday with sinus infection and on cold n meds and allergy meds. which I had been on continuously for 9 days.and a plane Friday with arial sinus headeache. When I got off the boat and the plane, I was fine but the next day the swaying and bobbing feeling started and hasn't stopped. It's been so depressing and hard to go to work everyday and the only time I feel ok is when I'm driving. I tried xanax, I tried acupuncture, I have appointment with general practitioner to see if I should go to a neurologist or ENT. The accupuncturist thinks it's autoimmune disorder brought on from covid vaccine which I had most recent booster 3 months ago. I found this group where people are attributing these symptoms to anxiety. That's hard for me to imagine, but I'm willing to believe, try anything to get it to stop. I do suffer from anxiety, stress, and bi-polar depression. Last year I thought I was dying from heart pounding. I had tests, went to cardiologist, found I have bradycardia. The doctor seemed to think I was ok and reccomended healthy diet and exercise. I just got better and stopped having the pounding and palpitations. Been taking supplements. Now this! Ugh
