Vaginal pain, bleeding after sex, breakthrough bleed

So I've had the following symptoms:

    -breakthrough bleeding
    -pain after sex
-bleeding after sex (possible beginning of period, unsure)

Ok so the pain after sex happened once, and when I went toilet after there was blood that was pinky. The day after there was very very faint brown blood and the day after that was my period. This has happened once before too.

The pain, it's not intense but from time to time I feel it.

    Background info:

    - 30 year old woman
    - all smears clear
    - tested for stis - no sti it bacterial vaginosis/thrush
    - transvaginal scan a year ago -fine

The last time I saw an after hours doc they had a look and said I looked red down there, like irritated. They have me thrush treatment and bacterial vaginosis antibiotics which I took and they took swabs. Turns out I had neither of those things.

I am so worried about this. I'm worried I have another kind of vaginal cancer. I have an exam down there next week but am terrified cancer will be he answer....

Since the bleeding after sex has only happened once and close to the start of your period then I would say that is quite normal. Good that you are getting it checked as it will reassure you.

It has happened twice, again my period started shortly after.

    Keep thinking cancer. :(

It sometimes happened to me to when my period was due so I don't think it is anything to worry about.

    Hey Hun,

I thought I'd post as I've had similar symptoms - I went to see a consultant who did a smear nine months early and she said if it comes back clear not to worry as it could be cervical erosion which is very common when you're on the pill.

It came back clear and I've also had a pelvic scan which was normal.

Also, I have a friend who had exploratory surgery for pain during sex and they found nothing - she is fine.

We were talking about it the other day and both think stress and anxiety make it more painful so perhaps worrying about it is making it hurt?

Did I read somewhere you take the pill back to back? I did this this month and I've had breakthrough bleeding which has never happened before.

I wouldn't worry if your smears are clear xxx
