Switched from Fluxetine to sert after 4 weeks - is the side effect time cumulative?

I know theres a general 6-8 week side effect rule. I took Fluoxetine 20mg for 4 weeks and moved to Sertraline with 1 days gap of no meds. Does the 6-8 weeks time span start from scratch again, or can I take into account the 4 weeks I took Fluoxetine for as well, as I moved from one SSRI to another?

I think it would depend on the chemical makeup of the drugs. Best bet is to ask a pharmacist, they are pretty in tune to the chemistry of drugs. I would think the Fluoxetine is still well above its half life and will probably be until the Sertraline kicks in, my guess would be you should transition easily. What did your doc think?
