I know many of you are probably up on nutrition. This is something I am not freaked out about, but curious about.

My left thumb nail, about half way up, has a ridge combined with a small divet in it going across the thumb nail, not with the grain. I was wondering, as I mark changes in my body as I age, if this is a sign of nutritional issues I should be dealing with. I don't remember any trauma inflicted on the thumb at any point. No discoloration or anything, but I am trying to eat really well and take care of myself.

Anyway, I don't dare google, for obvious reasons. I thought someone here might have some information regarding nail beds and what--if anything--a horizontal ridge like that might mean so I can address a nutritional defect or something.

Thanks!
