So my anxiety started around 5 years ago and i was diagnosed with GAD. Life has been a bit up and down since then and I have been on different meds, but settled on citalopram for a while. Around Christmas my anxiety started to get much worse so the Dr started me on fluoxetine 20 mg. I had been on it originally, but came off it after 6 months when i started to feel better.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, I wanted some advice from people on in the forum. I have read a number of posts, including the excellent timeline one, but just need some personal advice/reassurance.
I have been on 20mg fluoxetine for almost ten weeks now. Side effects were not pleasant in the first 4 weeks, but I got through it. At 6 weeks I went away for two weeks and felt good during my break, but on returning to work I have felt anxious again. My first week back coincided with 5 days of diarrhea and then my anxiety increased after that. I suppose my questions are:
1. is this just a blip? If so, when might it pass?
2. Would the diarrhea cause the absorption of the fluoxetine to decrease therefore causing me some side effects?
3. Should I consider a dosage increase?
I am also continuing with some mindfullness, which I think is helping!
