No anxiety for 3yrs and now it's back...help

Hi guys ive been on citalopram for 3yrs now and have been great ," normal," whatever that is n now all of a sudden my anxiety is back n I just can't cope, no appetite, tight chest, knot in my stomach, obsessive thoughts, hate being alone, I feel like I'm going crazy. I'm on 20mg n really don't want to up the dose as the side effects of starting citalopram were hurrendous for me. I've had this anxiety 7 days solid n it's terrifying me

i wouldn't be too concerned about going up to 30mg for a while. I took them for 4 years and over that period went from 20 to 30 a few times depending on how i was feeling. It definitely helped to adjust the dose - in the end 20mg was right for me until i tapered off them.

You only take them when your feelings are severe..who knows your doctor may give you a months worth until your side effects subside...

Dizzydoll, how are you feeling now? Did you decide to up your meds?

I'm going through something similar right now. I've been on 40 mg for Citalopram for 5 years, and I've been doing great. Not even the slightest blip.

Then, about a week and a half ago the anxiety came back. I think it's back due to Seasonal Affective Disorder, which I seem to be prone to when we have long winters (like now).

I went into the doctor, and got a new prescription for the generic of Lexapro (being at 40 mg already, I can't go up), but chickened out from taking it due to the startu p effects, which were terrible for me on Citalopram. I'm now hoping this blip will go away without me having to switch meds!
