cold surges in chest then palps

    Hi Friends,
I am suffering from anxiety (obviously) and have been on Citalipram for about 2 weeks. I have an underactive thyroid and adrenal insufficiency and possibly just going into the peri menopause. But in the last week I have been suffering from these awful cold surges in my chest. It starts like a capsule of cold fluid bursting and flowing all over, then I get palps and a headache. I am sorry if I've already asked this, but my mind is not thinking straight. It's very scary when it happens and the bursts just keep happening. They come on unprovoked and at any time. I was woken up at 6am with the first one. And they came thick and fast for a couple of hours.
Please does anyone else suffer from these symptoms?. I am getting so that I dread going to bed as I don't want to face the morning.

    Thanks everyone

Temperature fluctuations aren't uncommon when starting citalopram. Neither are curious little rushes which cause some peaks of agitation and up your heart rate. But personally I haven't experienced exactly what your describing. Two weeks in if it's a very definite physical sensation that's just started up I think it's well worth checking with your GP. Don't panic though, the medication does seem able to produce all kinds of weird and wonderful physical sensations for different people in the first weeks. But that particular experience does sound distressing so best go to the doctors and speak to them about it.

You do know that underactive Thyroid can cause temperature surges too don't you?
I too get these feelings that you describe and then i go ice cold all over.
I think it's combination of anxiety and the thyroid playing up.
If you're worried then it won't harm nipping to the docs. You might need your thyroxine upping. Keep us posted x
