Requiem Mass what to wear and general etiquette

I am going to attend a requiem mass tomorrow for a next door neighbour who has died. They moved away and she died on New Years Eve. I'm not sure what to wear (I am an Anglican) and we normally wear black for funerals. The body is already at the Church so they won't bring it out and in again will they? Can anyone advise? I'm in a real panic as I know I shall feel quite emotional. Have been asked to sing in the choir but I will probably stand at the back out of the way. I know that I won't be able to take Communion. Hun, just wear something that you are comfortable in. The most important this is, you are going to pay your respects.

usually it's black, with a scarf or something to cover your head, or a hat.

Thanks everyone. It was a wonderful service and a beautiful send off for a lovely lady. It was a funeral service with a mass and lots of extra embellishments. There were at least four priests officiating at the mass and probably three hundred people there. The family led some of the prayers and readings. As M had also been a head teacher many of her old pupils were there. A lovely touch at the end was anointing M (the coffin) with holy water and incense. I did feel emotional and thought about my Dad too. We went to say goodbye to D as were not going on to the reception. He said that he still wished he lived next door. I miss them both. EJ

Thank you for the link Snowy. I had the privilege of meeting John Rutter a few years ago as he was taking a singing day that I was performing in. It was not long after he lost his son. He is truly inspirational. EJ
