When taking 40mg Propranolol

Hi,

When taking 40mg of propranolol a day do you take:-

1 x 10mg tablet 4 times a day

or

2 x 10mg tablets 2 times a day


Which do you find the better way?

Hi, your doctor should have told you how to take, and it should also be on the box prepared by the pharmacist.

I had 40mg x 3 times daily and took them at equal intervals after waking up - 10am, 4pm and 10pm before bed. (I was off sick so slept in more). The tablets take about 25 minutes to kick in and last up to 6 hours. I'm not sure how effective 10mg would have been for me as I was very anxious at the time. I needed a steady stream to get calm.

I take 40mg in the morning (generally my anxiety is worse then)

I had to take 4 10mg all at once morning and night when they ran out my doctor gave me 40mg tablets, I found it to be too much for me though and ended up asking him for the packs of 10mg and just taking one then if that had no effect within the hour i'd take another but mine where only needed if n when I had palpatations and anxiety attacks because ofter my second week of taking them daily I was knackered! LOL
I will say they are very good though and did the trick for me, hope you get the right dosage anyway and find some relief soon xx
