Side effects changing brand?

Hi,

I have been on Citalopram for just over 4 weeks now. I have just started my 2nd box. When I collected my new prescription I noticed that the brand of the meds was different to the last one. I had some side effects with the first lot such as heightened anxiety but it calmed down. Since taking the new brand I have prickling all over my body. I am also really tired! I have previously taken cit a few months ago, and these were the side effects I experienced then. I stopped the meds back then as I was just so tired. But I was fine with the first brand of my new course so the only thing that is different is the brand of meds. Should that make a difference?

No, the active ingredient is exactly the same.

I agreed with mojo.sometimes our anxiety wants us to believe other wise....

Whilst the active ingredients are the same, the medical profession are divided on this one. In certain meds for physical conditions there have been issues discovered between brands but I don't think they have got that far with mental health.

Of course, it can be worrying making any change with anxiety so I wouldn't rule that out and to be honest, you haven't been on very long at the moment so your anxiety may still be nearer the worst of it until you make your recovery.
