Strange dizzy/spaced out feeling - any advice?

For the past hour or so I've been feeling lightheaded/spaced out, the only way I can explain it is it feels sort of like I've been blowing up balloons, I'm terrified that I will faint although I've never fainted in my life (touch wood). I seem to fixate on my breathing and although I dont think I'm hyperventilating (I'm not gasping for air) could that be the cause? Can shallow breathing make you faint? What can I do to make it go away?

    Thanks!

Re: Strange dizzy/spaced out feeling - any advice?

    Hi David

I experience this alot and am having it now. my counseller told me the other day she could see my breathing was very fast. I had just had a panic attack before
i went to see her. She said i was hyperventilating and this was causing the liteheaded/spaced out feelings.

I find it very hard to do the breathing exercises and feel that im never gonna get rid of these feelings

    mandie x
