    Quetiapine / Seroquel

Been taking these for couple of weeks, 50mg now. Helps sleep but during the day feel mix of both panic and zombiefied feeling. Really horrible, worst of both worlds. Anyone had experiences on these?

Oh help! I take half a seroquel at night to. What do you mean by "they are the worst drugs known to mankind"? My psychiatric nurse suggested it for my anxiety as she says I need to sleep and calm down as I am stuck in hyper mode.

I think that Superinfinity is scaremongering. I was offered risperidone earlier this year as a small dose to supplement other meds. I haven't gone on it yet but I would if this was thought to help me. Anti psychotics were used previously to sedate patients in institutions and to treat illnesses such as schizophrenia. They have only recently been used in smaller doses to treat depression and anxiety. Yes they do have a horrendous list of side effects but so do drugs like lithium which is what I have taken for the past fifteen years to good effect. You need to balance the potential good effects of a drug used in lower doses in a controlled way. If you are both being monitored regularily by your psychiatrist then they are farily low risk. If you notice any changes in your condition or unusual side effects you should contact your doctor immediately. Please try to sleep easy on that.

Thanks for that Elizabethjane. I only take half a 25mg pill per night, so it is a very small dose and I don't want to take any more although I was told I could take another half during the day if I get really anxious.
I wish people wouldn't make frightening statements about pills etc. without at least explaining themselves. It's very scary for those of us who are on these pills.

I have been taking Quetiapine for some time now without any ill effect. I changed from Olanzapine and found I had more side effects on them. I take a high dose as I have Bipolar, but know of many people who take smaller doseages to help with anxiety and they say it helps them. Please don't listen to people who try to scaremonger. Quetiapine helps me stay well .. that is my main concern.

I take Quetiapine and have taken it in varying doses from 25mg-600mg. Currently, 200mg. It does make you dosey during the day but if not on too high a dose during the day, it will wear off.
I was taking mine 100 morning and night for a while and for a while it was making me so tired, I was having to arrange child care, but it got better and I got used to it. Now I am taking it all at night as it doesn't work so well with another one I am taking in the morning just now.

Thank you happy one. Do you mean that the longer you took it the more you were able to tolerate the side effects? Did you start to feel normal during the day after a while? Today has been the worst - felt like coming round from general anaesthetic all day. Yet still manage to feel that sick with fear feeling! How is that possible?

I think there is a clear need to be careful here. Anxiety is an unlicenced use for anti psychotics and as such the amount of evidence is not substantal at best.

If you feel comfortable using powerful mind altering drugs then fine but let's not forget nice guidelines don't recommend anti psychotics for anxiety. Personally I prefer the benzos having tried risperidone. Benefit vs risk.

I think I will stick to what the specialists say. Quetiapine s excellent for anxiety if used in a small dose. All works differently for others. Scaremongering isn't what we are here for but views good n bad. Ppl are vulnerable on here let's not forget that
