Ever anxiety? Suffer with panic? Try being 'clinical'

This method has helped me enormously. It really has.

The next time you experience panic/anxiety symptoms, try inserting cold logic into your thought patterns.

Step 1 - you experience the usual frightening symptoms of panic/fear/anxiety

Step 2 - one long, deep breath. reassure yourself with 'ok,you are freaking out because the part of your brain known as the amygdala has injected a dose of adrenaline hormone into your bloodstream. The heart rate increase you are experiencing is a result of this hormone. You are not thinking clearly as a result of this hormone. This is causing you to perceive non-threats as threats.

    As opposed to...

Step 1 - you experience the usual frightening symptoms of panic/fear/anxiety

Step 2 - 'help!! What's happening?! I'm losing it!! *hyperventilate*

Try it. Be an icy cold clinician. Do not 'dramatise' the situation. It's adrenaline hormone. Nothing more.

Hi Tom. That makes sense. Ive started to read about neauroscience and anxiety. Its something i want to get alot of info on as once you understand its a medical thing it can hopefully take the edge off the emotional response. I just wonder how the physical aymtopms can be stopped. I'm looking into it from a scientific view to rationalise this draining thought process. Thank you for your great post
