    problems with my throat

my throat seems ot ache on and off (often relating to how anxious i feel) so i know deep down its more than likely linked..BUT..at times it hurts so much and i have shooting pains throughout my neck that i wonder if it really can just be caused by anxiety. Does anybody else suffer with this? I can eat ok though it does feel as though my throat is restricted a little. I just eat really carefully. Terrified that its something more than anxiety.

    Hi Ballandalloch,

I also have the same problem, my throat feels tight and restricted..... there are times when it is slightly better but not very often!! On top of this I have breathing problems and sometimes the lump in throat sensation. It is my worse symptom and I constantly worry that the docs are missing something..... I have been diagnosed with reflux and take nexium but I still worry that there is more to it, I think the anxiety makes it much worse.

    Best wishes,

    Kate

    Hi Kate
Thanks for answering. Its so nice to hear that im not alone even though im sorry that that you are going through the same horror. Do you have problems relaxing? I try so hard but my mind then goes back to my throat. I too have reflux but through homeopathic remedies i THINK im sorting it, but then i get bad stabbing pains and aching in my throat and i think WHAT WAS THAT???....lol...also started to be accompanied by an annoying tickle. Do you have anything that helps?

    Hi Ballandalloch,

I also find it impossible to relax, I am constantly worrying about my throat and my breathing. Also when I eat I start coughing which makes my throat seize up! Sometimes I have shooting pains in my neck aswell.

It is interesting that you also have reflux, I think the problems are caused from the reflux and also the anxiety, although at times I am convinced there is something seriously wrong with me.

I have not found anything that helps, generally I am being really careful about what I eat and trying to distract myself and not panic (although easier said then done!!!!)

At the moment I feel that it controls my life and I can't wait until I feel better!

It is so nice to know that there is someone with similar symptoms to me (not that I would wish then on anybody!!!).

    Hi,

I have this feeling most of the time as well as a lump in my throat or somethings stuck. It is just anxiety hunny so try not to worry, easier said than done i know believe me, i was up the docs, nhs walk in centre and the hospital when i first had it and they all said i would be fine, well i'm still here fighting it like all of us.

Just try to stay clam as worry does make it feel worse.

    Hope this helped.

    Liz

Thanks to both of you for answering. Well today i am contemplating raiding my savings to get to see a throat specialist sooner than i will on the nhs. My partner thinks i should wait as maybe it will get better with time but i cant see that happening when i am SO convinced i have something really wrong. Im really sorry that you guys are suffering the same. Really we should be able to just learn from each other and be calmed that it will be ok but thats so difficult isnt it? How long have you both had the throat problem?

I have had mine well nearly three months..... I can't wait until I feel better.

I'm sorry you are suffering as well, its horrible. My doctor called me today and said that I have acute sinusitus (she did an x-ray a while back!) but I have no idea if thats what is causing the problems, I am clutching at straws I guess!! and my anxiety make it much worse.

You might want to check out your sinus's if you have reflux. How long have you had the problem? and how did it start?

Hey guys, it almost feels surreal to read how many people are suffering from thiese types of symptoms. I only just joined this forum last night because I was doing a search on the Net for Globus Hystericus, which is basically what so many of us are suffering from. I really fealt alone until I stumbled across this site and it has made me feel better.
Mine is all stress/anxiety related, I have come to realise. I have been feeling this way for about 4 weeks and at first I found it pretty scary, not knowing what was going on. We jump to conclusions and assume the worst ie cancer, but I started seeing a pattern, the pain is almost undetectable when I first wake and then I feel the restriction building as I walk into work.
Most of us put far to high an expectation on ourselves and this is generally society driven. I find that I stress subconsciously, and by the time I realise what I am doing to myself it is too late. The throat is aching and I have to try and relax. I am coming to the realisation, after reading so many peoples comments, that so many people are suffring as we all are, and that we have to try and not judge ourselves and feel anxious, because chances are, the people that you are looking at, and thinking that they don't have a care in the world, may in fact be feeling the smae as you are??
I hope this helps guys, it helped me writing it.
    Cheers Darcy.

all I can say dph is ditto!! lol.

As for the throat thing, I'm kidda getting the same problems. this is all new to me tho. The muscles under my chin, kinda where you glands would be feel tense. I sometimes feel like I have something stuck in my throat and i can't clear it. also some pains in my chest too, right behind the breast bone. just a short stabbing pain, my mum puts that down to wind, but then again to her everything is wind! lol
