Thread: Depression "cured" anxiety.

    Depression "cured" anxiety.

I have been afraid of dying since I was young. That is where my health anxiety started and my obsession which turned in to panic attacks over constant worrying about my health. These last few months I have notice I haven't been that bad on the anxiety front. I stopped having breathing issues, I stop twitching, just stop worrying, but I think I am to the point where I just don't care anymore. I want to care and be happy for my family, and I can do it for a couple hours and then I just go back into myself. Daily conversation with myself, obsessing on what has gone with and what will go wrong, always waiting for the next thing to happen. I haven't seen a counselor for a while because schedule, family, work just not making it a priority, I need to break down spend the cash and make the time and hopefully get out of this. I want cured of my anxiety but not this way.. I appreciate this site so much, sorry if this is nonsensical.

    Thank you for reading

Do you think that your depression, ceasing to care about a lot of things has alleviated your anxiety?

It has for this short period of time. I just feel so blah inside, that things I cared about that I obsessed about are just not there anymore.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that with anxiety the best method to combat it is 'ignore it and it'll go away'.

For depression I used to meditate a lot (still do every day, but I did more then), which really helped too. Living in the moment.

It's not "depression" that cured your anxiety.

Not focussing, giving it attention or feeding it cured it.

Replace that depression with something positive and you are done with it!
Use this knowledge to your advantage in the future.

If you can make it disapear by focussing on something negative, you can also make it disappear by focussing on something positive.

What you give attention grows, choose wise....

You are right. That is why I think im going to see my counselor again have a good outlet for the negative so I can focus on the positive, be happy and keep anxiety out. Sometimes it is just so hard.
