So about 3 and a half weeks ago I got this odd pain in the side of my neck when swallowing saliva. It's maybe two inches up from my collarbone and round on the right side of my neck.
After a week of this pain I came down with a really bad throat and chest infection, and the Doc said it was viral and would go away. It lasted a week, but has gone now. During this time I was taking painkillers so didn't feel the pain in my neck.
For the last week now I have continued to have this pain. It's not agony, it's annoying more than anything else. I went back to the Doc and he done an examination of my neck and said nothing is swollen, everything feels fine and it'd go away.
Here I am, sitting in the Docs waiting room a week later, and still I have this pain. It isn't there in the morning when I wake up, it comes on gradually and ALWAYS only when I swallow saliva from an empty mouth.
She I eat food or drink liquids, the pain is rarely if ever present. Ibuprofen makes it disappear entirely but I'm worried as to what it could be exactly.
I'm terrified it's some kind of muscle weakness from a major illness, although I can swallow without any issues.
