Scared about lung x-ray results

Hi All,

I have lurked on here for a long time but decided to post as I'm frightened and really struggling.

I have had a cough (usually productive) for the past few months and my doctor ruled out GERD HERS and allergies as the cause, then sent me for a chest x-ray.

It took 5 weeks for the results to come back and they said I needed to see a Dr. I saw the doctor this morning and she has explained that I have a small opacification on my right lung which needs further investigation.

She has referred me to the hospital as an urgent fast track case, meaning I should be seen within 2 weeks.

I'm terrified...i can't eat and feel sick. I can't stop shaking.

I suffer from anxiety (especially regarding health issues) and am now convincedIconvinced have lung cancer and I'm going to die. I have 3 kids and have just turned 40 and used to smoke (I stopped 5 years ago).

Has anyone else had a similar experience? What was the outcome? Thanks for reading x
