Anxious about having a CT Angiogram -Help!

I have been booked in for a CT Angiogram after seeing a cardiologist. An echocardiogram showed a leaking mitral & tricuspid. The consultant felt that it wasn't anything to worry about & that he couldn't hear anything or see any bulges in neck vein when he pressed somewhere on my stomach. He suggested the CT angiogram however Im very anxious about having a severe reaction to the contrast dye !!!! I also only have half my thyroid & have Hashimoto & so I'm concerned that the procedure i.e. radiation & dye could affect my thyroid & make it worse. He doesn't feel that they will find much wrong apart from maybe some thickening & then I would be put on medication. I am terrified about anaphylactic shock !!!!!

Are you allergic to dye?, can I ask why you think you'd have a reaction too it?, as for your thyroid I would discuss your fears with the doctor about it affecting it or making it worse

Thanks for replying. I have a fear of allergic reactions & I don't know why. I don't know if I am allergic to dye. I have asked about risk to thyroid but get the standard answer of no.
