I was wondering if excessive swallowing can lead to throat tightness, or consequential shortness of breath? Last night I had a LOT of throat mucus, and kept swallowing to get rid of it. Eventually I had some greater difficulty breathing than usual. I tried to ignore it, turning on my side to fall asleep if I could, and I think I fainted. There was a moment where there was a click from my throat and an odd "Hiss" noise like air rushing out, followed of sheer pressure in my head/chest and ear ringing. I tried to call for help but I couldn't say anything, and so I think I lost consciousness. It's the first time I've ever fainted, so you can imagine it freaked me out to no end.
