Hi everyone
Has anyone taken beta-blockers to reduce anxiety temporarily i.e. for a special event?
Do you have to take for a few weeks in order for them to work properly?
Thanks!

Hi Claire, no they should work straight away, remember they are not an antidepressent, all they do is stop your adrenaline going into over drive, I find them very effective but everybody is different. What strength have you been given?

Hi Polly
To be honest, I havent actually been prescribed them recently!
I have an assessment/presentation thing to do in January and I am so worried about it already. Even when just standing up infront of a few people, my heart jumps out of my chest, i shake and I get a mental blank and my voice shakes...im dreading this assessment becuase I have to do a presentation in front of 20 people but ive put off this college course for too long!
I have read about beta blockers/anxiety etc for years on the net and am hoping I can speak to my doc and use them for my assessment day. Otherwise I know im going to fail my course :(
Hi Clairey, I am just the same, beta blockers will defo do the trick, you will pass your course!!!!!!
Take care,
Polly
