oh my god citalopram making me so tired

right cant get energy to do anything so tired just managed to get showered and back to bed had week of 10mg and been on 20mg for four days.Iam so tired please tell me this is normal side effect ? and when i do sleep i wake up all dazed and confused

Yes, EXTREMELY tired for most of the time. That's just the way it is with Cit.

Thats weird, my dr told me causes insomnia not tiredness. Wish I felt a bit more tired - then might be more relaxed!! 8 1/2 weeks in and despite a week or so of feeling good last week am back to being sick with fear all the time. Depressing.

I went back on this recently. My last experience was that if I took it at bedtime, then I was awake all night. If I took it in the morning, I slept well at night.
This time round, for the first couple of weeks, it floored me day and night, but I am on other meds as well, so it may be the combo. However, the day time tiredness has worn off.

Hi lady,

I am on 60msg of citalopram, and feel tired most of the day. That is quite normal for being on Citalopram. I hope that doesn't put you off taking Citalopram.

I find it a real struggle to get out of bed some mornings. I guess it is because I am so calm and relaxed that I am not hit by that "fist in the gut" adrenaline rush as soon as I wake up like I used to be.

Rather be a sleepy yawning git than an anxious wreck, mind you!

I've been on 20mg for 8 months

I started taking it in the morning and the first month I was shattered and yawning ALL the time

I was then ok until about three months ago when the tiredness and yawning came back and then someone suggested taking it at night instead which immediately worked.

Now gone down to 20mg every other day and tired all the time once again!

Hi this is a completely normal side effect, I was like a walking zombie for the first few weeks but you will soon have your energy back I promise! Just try to relax and let the meds do their job. x

I am wiped out on this 20 mgs and I could sleep around the clock, hope it gets better soon as it is starting to worry me ie I think I have some weird disease that is making me tired.

I have been on 20mgs for about 10 days and was on 10mgs two weeks before that.
