Does Citralopram still work when I have a stomach bug?

    Hiya!!
I am new on here, so sorry if this issue has been raised before!! I have been taking citralopram 40mg for about 2 months now and I feel great. I seem to feel worse after a bout of diarrhoea though. I was just wondering whether anyone has got any advice on whether diarrhoea can alter the effectiveness of citralopram?

    Thank you very much!!

I wouldn't have thought so, unless you've lost a hell of a lot of fluid, in which case you'd be seriously ill. Sometimes going through an illness can make us feel very down but I'm sure the meds are still working.

Keep your fluid intake up and if you continue to feel bad visit your GP. But I'm sure you'll feel fine again soon.

I've had diarrhoea since starting the meds, and the psychiatrist I saw said it could be Citalopram causing it - so I'm guessing the medication still works, regardless!
