Feeling like you're swallowing the Uvula
I must say this might be weed related, as I have had a habit of it which I've more or less kicked these days, but it generally happens in times of anxiety.
I get it much less these days, but occasionally I start to feel like I'm swallowing the dangly bit in my throat. I panic, it feels EXACTLY like it's happening, and in my head I can feel it stretching down almost to my stomach, to the point where I'm convinced it's going to tear off, then I feel it come back up again.
I used to stare in the mirror with my mouth open, panicking, drinking pint after pint of water trying to moisten my throat. The only cause I can think of is that the muscles in the throat are swollen/dry, and the swallowing reflex is slowed down, taking ages to get the muscles back in place.
Does that sound familiar to anyone? Very weird! Not nice at all!
I once asked a guy at an NA meeting: "Do you ever feel like entire
conversations are planned, aimed at messing with your head?"
To which he replied "Yes, until I realised I'm not that important".
Best advice I ever had.
