It's bloody hard to stop the reassurance seeking - in the case of health anxiety, using Dr Google and fixing up endless GP appointments - but needs to be done
My health anxiety has grown into full blown OCD and it's quite a relief to be diagnosed, I am no less anxious, but just being able to say "I have an anxiety disorder" rather than "I have a problem with this or that health issue (probably" is a huge step
I say 'probably' because we can never be absolutely sure we won't get heart attacks, cancer, etc - the second part of recovering from health anxiety and other OCD seems to be about learning to live with uncertainty
