Hi,

I had an MRI IAM scan earlier on today. It went ok. Wasn't very pleasant with the loud noise and being shut in an enclosed space for a while. The thing that unnerved me the most was that after leaving the room and going back up the hallway to my locker, it was next to a doctor's room and whilst empyting the locker I heard him clearly saying that you could clearly see the tumour. I have of course now added 2 and 2 together and made 5 and think he was talking about me. I can't get the thought out of my head and I now need to wait for my appt with my doctor. Can't see me sleeping much tonight :weep:

The Dr would not be looking at your scan so soon afterwards. It can take a couple of days for the scans to be passed by a consultant radiographer if not longer which is why it takes a week to get the results.

If there is anything very serious shown up on the scan at the time you are not allowed out - I know this as last time I was having a scan the lady in front of me must have had something show up and she was tranferred on a trolley into the hospital because I listened to the staff arranging a bed for her!

I understand your panic as ha by its very nature always assumes the worst but the chance of it being your scan the Dr was talking about is about million to one. Another thing is the longer you don't hear from your Dr the less chance there is of anything nasty.

I agree with Country girl. Anything serious and you would not have been let home.

After my MRI I was told that there are hundreds of images and 2 specialists have to look at them, The scanner staff do not interpret them they scan and that is a different skill.

Anxiety messes with your head.

Thanks everyone - that really helps. Just a case of wait and see what they say.

Wow good answer's :) I don't know how it works but I would have been freaked out too !
Sorry you had to over hear that, hope you feel better enough now to sleep and let us know the MRI results when you get them, I'm sure everything will be fine x

Well i got the MRI results today and all is clear which is great news. Still doesn't explain all the weird feelings in my head, dizziness, etc. but maybe that's all down to the wonderful anxiety!! Got to go for a follow up appointment to decide on having my tonsils out so we'll see what happens there.

Thanks to everyone for your helpful responses as ever

Well done Pete. Try and take some advice from me (someone who has failed), move on with your life and don't obsess over the dizziness. I suffer from it too, and have done for 8 months or more. I've had a clear MRI too but now I'm worrying about other things etc..I'm going to demand some anxiety meds as it's taking over my life. Please don't let it get it that stage for you, all the best
