I've been having this dull ache in my lower jaw for about a week now, which sometimes gets worse and is almost like contractions in my jaw, it reaches a peak and then subsides and then does the same thing again. I went and saw my dr, despite the fact I'm only 27 he has told me he wants me to have an ECG in view of my family history of heart problems, citing angina as producing jaw pain. I feel really ill now coz I'm so worried about my heart. He did say it probably wasnt anything serious but wanted to be sure but I cant stop panicking that I have angina, help!!!

Sorry to hear you're having jaw pain trouble.

YOu've probably done so already, but it might be worth checking the problem out with your dentist? I had an absess under a molar tooth and for about six months before that, had twinges & varying sympthoms, it came and went and was obviously developing, so it might be worth running it past your dentist; he/she can easily take an ex-ray of your tooth/jaw to see if there's a problem.

My dentist also told me that a lot of people grind their teeth whilst they're asleep! So perhaps this is some of the problem?

The other thing is that it could be a muscular problem? I've had a lot of problems with head, neck, shoulder area, made worse if I do something like sleep in a bad position or sit in a draught, so again, it might be worth getting yourself looked at by an osteopath or whatever.

Hope this helps.
