Hi my name is Gary and I new to these threads. I have suffered from anxiety for about 10yrs and have been on and off anti depressants in that time.

I have suffered from heartburn for about 5 years and am now currently taking some meds given to me by my doctor. However, the doctor said that if i am not better when they run out (about 3 days) then I shall be sent to a specialist. I am very scared as I am assuming this will mean an endoscopy which terrifies me. Thing is I believe that my heartburn may be triggered by stress and anxiety.

Does anyone now of any natural methods to control heartburn? I think that if I can control it in some way then my anxiety may calm down which in turn could end the heartburn.

Thanks

Hi Gary, I suck extra strong mints and put half teaspoon of bicarb in water and swallow that.....it works well.
(mints after the bicarb hahah)

Hi Gary

I drink chamomile tea and avoid anything citrusy, too much booze and fizzy drinks to avoid heartburn. Good luck.

A change in diet will help and smoking and alcohol makes it worse.

Hi thanks everyone

I am going to try and live off a diet of mainly veg and fruit for a few weeks to see if it calms down. I have cut out tea and coffee and stopped smoking 3 years ago. The omeprazole given to me by the doctor worked very well but I was only given 1 months worth and would also rather not be reliant on these tablets.
I have also heard that cutting out carbs may help but I have not tried that yet
