Hello everyone, I'm new - I was recommended to come here by someone from Mumsnet! I have severe health anxiety and am currently having some frightening stomach pains, am waiting to see consultant, of course in my mind its terminal already. A little voice keeps telling me "yeah you try to make light of it, but what if it really IS serious this time". Earlier this year I was overcome with a sense of dread for 48 hours and things have just gone from bad to worse so when I developed stomach pain radiating through to the back at the end of the July and got fobbed off with antacids from GP, I lost the plot.

This time of night is terrible (I should imagine we all feel the same regardless of our anxiety) - my stomach pain is worse and I have terrifying dreams one after another, I'm not getting any rest - I lie awake in pain, doze off around 2am, horrific dreams start, wake 3am for half an hour in pain, doze off and so on all night.

I have made my two best friends miserable with constant facebook updates on it all and other half says I WANT to be ill. So that's me. Seeing gastro consultant on 4th October. Thanks for reading.

Aww

How horrible you must be feeling, as soon as you have been to the gastro consultant hopefully your mind will be at ease, although it will feel such a long way off to you.

It is awful going through all of these symptoms thinking the worst.

Welcome to NMP

Hopefully we can help you out the best way we can till you get your appointment.

Best Wishes

di xxxx

Hi there, I am so sorry to hear you are going through so much agony, just to encourage you...I have been going through the same on and off for over 5 years but everytime it flares up I convince myself this time its taking my life but NO it hasnt, I am still alive to the glory of God. I must say its soooo nasty and scary. I can only advise you to stay on this forum and you will get a lot of help, I am not a doctor but trust me its all anxiety...I have been to several Gastro specialists...in different hospitals and every possible test has been done and all came back normal. Things will get better my dear, just hang in there, try as much as possible to calm yourself and eat well. Do all the tests that you are advised to do by your doctor just to rule out any serious medical illnesses and if all the results are ok, which i believe will be the case...don't doubt, just deal with your anxiety and things will get better. All the best dear. Hugs x x

Your reply made me cry Mendez. I was just about to google pancreatic cancer when I thought no, I'll come on here first. I so want to believe what you are saying could be true for me too.:hugs:
