Hi,

I had a vasectomy 2 months ago but am still getting aches and pains paticularly in one of my testicals. This is causing me major anxiety as I have convinced my self that something has gone wrong and I will always be like this! Any advice please.

If you are concerned, go and see your GP just to put your mind at rest. It is more than likely fine, and I think it can take a while to fully recover.

Just wanted to enlarge on my situation a bit, just to talk about it as much as anything.

I am 39 and have suffered with GAD and heath anxiety since I was 16. About a 3 years ago it started having a huge effect on how I was living my life and this finally made me seek help from GP who put me on a CBT couse. This significantly improved my anxiety although it has always been there but I have felt pretty good for last 2 years.

My main symptoms have been IBS and tingling in my face along with other common symtoms.

My current situation is that I can feel the anxiety starting to build up in me again. The cause has been a series of events and situations over the last 6 months that have made me feel anxoius and so caused symtoms to start again.

The final event in the 6 months was a vasectomy that I thought would cause me no problems at all. But 2 months after I still feel discomfort and some pain.

I have also developed the lump in throat feeling and am stuggling to convince my self that it is just a anxiety symtom.

Feel very low at the moment and do not want to return to the state I was in 3 years ago!!!!!!!!

pjr,

Give the clinic a call were they performed the vasectomy, i know my partner had discomfort for a good while after, they will either either tell you its normal or ask you to go and get it checked out.

Health anx is a nightmare and i know how much the lump in the throat feeling is so annoying and i think we all start to doubt it at some point, its such a common symptom of anx.

Hope you start feeling better soon.

Had pains checked out no problems, should resolve itself in a few weeks. Just left with the lump in throat problem now and going down the familier thought pattern - just anxiety symtom. followed by what if its something more serious. This goes through my head over and over again and becomes very exhausting. Any advice?

Vasectomy has grown in popularity throughout the world since its inception in the 19th century. About 600,000 men each year choose to undergo a vasectomy in the United States alone. Of those procedures, 85% of vasectomies are performed by urologists (specialists in men's health), and 15% are performed by family practitioners.

I had it done about 25 years ago at the same time as my brother in law. I was out on my trials bike the same afternoon, and tested to see if they were working the same evening, and they were. However my brother in law was'nt having such a great time. He told me that they had swelled to the size of a pair of oranges and he spent 4 days perched on the edge of a chair in his dressing gown. He had pain there for a good few weeks after the op but eventually it settled, as I hope it will for you.
Good luck, WW

is the pain there all the time, how bad it is?
It's might just be the nerves and tissue repairing it self.
If the doctor thinks it ok, it's more than likely ok :)
But I do understand how physical symptoms can cause you anxiety :(

My aunt had a full on OP to have her tubes tied, she was pain for weeks, never understood why her husband didn't get the less painful, less risky Vasectomy.......
sorry to go a bit off topic.

Funny you should say that Mishel, my Mrs was going to have it done and I went with her to see the surgeon. He told us all the things that he would have to remove from her, then turned to me and said a vasectomy would take ten minutes and I'd be back at work next day. The guilt trip worked and I had it done a few weeks later.

Hi PJR,
I just had a vasectomy last week and am still uncomfortable. I have been feeling really anxious because I hear about people who are fine in 4 days.
I was wondering how it turned out with you. I hope well.

try briefs they're supposed to help lift everything and keep it in place, I though but I would ever touch them again myself

I think that you need rest and that will be beneficial for your health. And your wife should be more careful about your health.
