Hello everyone.
I've just found this site so I thought I'd give it a try.
I've suffered from social phobia for over 10 years now and it completely restricts me. I never go out where I'll be in a social situation. I haven't worked for years - my wife works and somehow we manage. I'd love to be able to work and find a job where I could be independent but every time I've tried to find work at home it's been a dead loss. I'm desperate to get out of this dead end situation I'm in.

Hi and welcome.

Maybe making friendships on line will help, especially if they are like minded people.

There are some great people on this site, who are not judgemental and will help you on your way.

Take Care,

Thanks for the welcome!
I've tried all sorts over the years. I've had hypnotherapy, beta-blockers, homeopathic remedies and also a self-help group. Sadly, not much has worked, hence the rut I'm in!
Nice to be able to talk about it though.

Hi Sawdox

Welcome to the forum. I too suffer with social anxiety and have done since my childhood. However, very slowly I am starting to make progress and can do a lot more now than I could before joining this site almost 2 years ago. So there is hope.

I found hypnotherapy helpful but different things help different people. Have you tried CBT therapy?

You might find the following information helpful:
