Infectious Mononucleosis

I have it! I knew I was extra sick lately but thought it was anxiety. Now I worry about my spleen. The spleen swells when you have this and can rupture. If it does your blood pressure drops. Well my blood pressure has been very low. I can't stop worrying. Also, my left side has been hurting, and that is where you spleen is! I didn't put this together until I left the doctors. I will call her in the morning to see what she thinks.. I think I am over reacting.

Do you think you have infectious mononucleosis? Or has a Doctor told diganosed it? If it is your spleen as bad as it sound it is removable and is like the apendix which is rally "not needed" and you can live a very healthy life without it. I would check with your doctor about possiable treatment options you have. I am sure this is running your panic attacks sky high. Try to relax.. and I know this is not always possiable. If you experience extreme pain I would seek medical attention imediately just to make sure. I wish you best of luck and keep me up to date!

Hi,

I'm new here but just wanted to let you know that mononucleosis is a very, very common disease that almost everyone gets, and although it can be unpleasant, in almost 100% of cases it does not have any complications.

When my husband had it a few years ago, the doctor told us that almost everyone is expected to have it by age 25. It really is that common!

If you were to be the one person who gets complications (and this is soooo unlikely that you really should not waste a second of your time worrying about it), then like the previous post says your spleen can be taken out and it's no big deal at all. I'm sure though that your spleen can hurt because it's slightly inflamed without it having to go that far.

I was feeling so sick and kept thinking it was anxiety. I am probably overreating about my spleen. My blood pressure is not too low just lower then normal. I am actually going off my beta blocker right now because it is getting too low :( My heart rate is going up though.

I hope you're feeling better. Would you like to be pregnant? It's certainly not a serious disease, so it could be something to take your mind off the anxiety. I have heard that when you're pregnant, anxiety decreases quite a lot. I'm trying to get pregnant, and hope that will stop this at least for a while.

Well my doctor called back and told me I am not pregnant. They are trying to get me into a specialist to check my momo and spleen.

I do not want kids right now, but it woudn't be the end of the world if it happened :-)

Hi,

so I freaked out this morning on the way to work. My side was hurting again and my blood pressure was 86/56. I went to the emergency room they did blood work and a cat scan and said I was fine and just get some rest.

I could have saved myself so much trouble and not went.
