Having one for headaches, facial and mouth numbness. Hope to God it comes back clean. Oh, please, let there be no tumors or lesions. My poor brain. :scared15: I keep imagining tumors from all my chatting on the celly!

Hey
Ive had 2 of these as I used to suffer with terrible migraines and facial numbness-it was normal. The radiologist did observe a small white dot on my brain called unidentified white object !! After a neurologist ruled out stroke I was told they can be caused by migraines-but boy did I worry about that white dot !! Im sure you ll be fine x good luck x

Thanks for the good wishes. The scan went well enough—fortunately, I am not remotely claustrophobic. :D Now, to wait for the results...

usually you can listen to music or the radio through a set of headphone when inside the scanner. quite relaxing.

I had one, No option of music. I was given some ear plugs for the noise.

The waiting is the hard bit. It feels as if they have disescted you and are looking for trouble which if it comes back clear is great. If not then panic time....

I totally empathise with you. I just wish you could get the results there and then.

I am totally spinning out, light headed, palps, not sleeping and thats with no results. What would it be like if the results were not good????

Hi Vivi. I had a mri for roughly the same reasons you did all but including pain around the tip of the jaw (a kind of shooting pain).

Did you get your results back yet hopefully be the same as mine they could find nothing wrong with it (was pleased with that a have had thoughts that i have had a mini stroke a fews back but nothing also had a hard knock to the face area when i fell a few years ago ended up in A&E) But all showed up clear.

Know just have to find out what is causing the facial/mouth numbness and pain (only on the left-side I must add)

Hi, xtremx.

I did get my results back, and they were the same as yours! Not a thing doing. I'm so pleased for both of us.

Still have yet to find what's causing the weird facial/jaw stuff, though. Mine's only on one side, too, strangely enough. Please do keep me updated if and when you make any progress on your end!

Pleased to hear that you got the same results as me, Thats a good thing.

I have seen my maxillofacial specialist and he has said he and a senior colleague have no idea, But they have put me on pregabalin for nerve pain to see if that helps.

One thing that maybe a factor is that about 2-3 weeks before my to quote you weird facial/jaw stuff start I did have a filling out in by the dentist and they think a possible reason could be that the filling was abit proud and has caused to opposite tooth to move very slightly onto the nerve.

Will keep you updated as have a appointment in february with a maxillofacial surgeon.

One thing do you find that things play up more when the air is cold.

How loud was the MRI scan Vivi? Ive heard they can be very loud, especially a head MRI

I've had a brain MRI before, actually going in again this week for another. (I have a 1.5cm pineal cyst, so they check it yearly.)
It is fairly loud, but they give you ear plugs. I just imagine it as a bad techno concert and that helps with any anxiety I have.
