Hi all...At the moment my HA is sky! Well it always is to be honest! :weep:

To save you going back to my other posts I'll quickly summerise my story...

Last year I had right side abdomen pain that I was convinced was BC...It eventually took an endoscopy and colonoscopy to reassure me. That was last September (2010). Then in early February I began getting headaches, dizzy spells and neck pain on my right side, this I convinced myself was a brain tumour. This eventually subsided and I began having right chest, shoulder and back pain which after a slightly raised protein level in my blood I thought was Bone 'C'....Since then I've had aches and pains all over my body and I can't tell whats real pain and what my HA is bringing up. I've since then had 3 more CBC all of whichhave been fine except for slightly raised protein levels, my last one was 8.0 but my Doctor hasn't been concerned about any of them.

I also had a chest x-ray done at the begining of August which came back clear. At the same time I had an MRI done on my thorasic spine to see if that was causing any issues. They did find a Hemogeoma on one of my vertabre which they weren't that concerned about but I've got to go back on the 7th Dec to have it looked at again. This alone had sent my HA rocketing!

Anyway getting to the point....For the past few weeks I've had pain in my lower left back, pretty much from the bottom of my ribs down to my hip. I went to the Doc's and he gave me a once over, a urine dip test, which was fine and said it was all muscular and gave me some anti-in-flammatories. That was a month ago and the pain is still there and does radiate round to the front a bit, I also had a lot gurgling and popping in my stomach, bowel area, inlcuding some loose stools.

To make things extra worse at the begininng of this week I had a bit of a cough and started to feel a 'rattke' in the bottom of my right lung. I'm not bringing up much mucus and what I do is only slightly green. There is also no sign of blood, but my back does hurt. I went to the Docs this morning and ended up seeing the Nurse Practioner, who was very nice. She listened to my chest and confirmed that there is a noise coming from that area of my lung. She thinks its an infection and has given me some Antibioctics.

As I sit hear now all I can think is that all this time over the past few months when Docs etc have been telling me there is nothing wrong that I have got 'C' somewhere that has now spread to my lung. Even though I had a clear chest x-ray back in August. I am scared beyond belief and cant rationalise that it can be anything else...especially as I have pain in my back in that area.

I'm 35 years old, never smoked and am relitivley fit. But this is all to much of a conincience to be anything else!!!

hi taffy, this could be my symptoms, had this cough for months now, had a chest x ray, all clear a lung function test, clear, and a breathing test which was also clear, was given inhalors which help a little, but i am convinced it is a nervous cough, and hopefully when i am off the meds it might get better, try not to worry too much, you have had a all the tests, and if it is an infection , your tabs will clear it up, take care x

Sorry I need to correct my post....the 'rattle' is in the bottom of my left lung, where that pain seems to be.

Pinkdove...do you have this 'rattle symptom?

I have the exact same thing. Was told I had a rattle in my chest and I had a chest infection and was on antibiotics for a week.

I have a really bad pain in my side that is made 100 times worse when I cough.

I am on my 2nd week of this now so I hope it goes soon.

I think we both have the same thing to be honest

Haven't the antibiotics sorted it yet?...The nurse gave me a high dose of Amoxicyllin..500mg I think, 3 times a day. God I hope it clears it up!

I finished them on Monday and I am still coughing a bit and it is agony when I do. I saw the doc last week and he thought I had kidney stones cos I was in so much pain.

The pain radiates round to my groin area as well and feels like someone is stabbing me with a hot poker when I cough.

I hope it goes soon as I am fed up of sleeping sat up so I don't cough all night.

Hey there,

It might seem that all your symptoms point to only 1 possible outcome but there could be so many minor ailments causing them. Let me tell you what happened with me last year and you'll see what I mean....

Last year I kept getting lots of phlem on my chest, which in itself didn't bother me until I coughed it up one day and there was a speck of blood in it. Every time I coughed up after that I checked for blood and when it kept coming I went to the docs convinced I had lung cancer. He sent me for an x-ray which came back clear. At about that time I started getting a really achey left arm & shoulder. This was back in my 'googling' days so after looking it up I was even more convinced I had the dreaded C (even though I'm only 37 and have never smoked!!). I then started to get chest pain too. After months and months of awful anxiety, not eating or sleeping, and many trips backwards and forwards to my GP he finally referred me to a chest specialist.

The Chest Specialist did another x-ray, arranged for breathing tests, blood tests and a CT scan. All clear. In the end the specialist said the blood must have been coming from my throat rather than my lungs and there was absolutely nothing wrong with me.

So the moral of the story, even though you have all the symptoms for some awful disease, chances are it's probably something a lot less serious.
Oh and by the way, as soon as I got the all-clear, the chest, shoulder & arm pain disappeared!!!

Hope that helps in some small way

Stressing yourself out like you have been doing runs down your immune system. Im sure its an infection.

The odds of it being lung cancer are slim to none. Its more of a smokers thing. I used to smoke. If you had the coughs i had ud have an heart attack lol tbh they scared me but they were never cancer. Please relax. U will feel better when u do x x x

Its not the coughing thats bothering me...in fact I'm hardly coughing at all and when I do theres no blood, just slightly green mucus. Its this rattle I can feel in my lung which the nurse could also hear and the pain in that area. Its worrying me sick!

green mucus = infection. I had similar fears a few years ago.. cough that never went, aching ribs. thought that was it. it was nothing... just a cough. especially at this time of year they are very common. Plus the more i thought about it the more i coughed and the more anxious i got.

vicious circle.

take care

Well I have the rattle and the pain too.

You need to give the antibiotics time to work.

I am not coughing anything up at all.

So you've still got the rattle then have you Nic?....its a horrible sensation. It feels like there is something inside the bottom of my lung. I could understand it more if I was bringing up loads of mucus....but hardly anything at all.

I really hope this goes away, I'm not looking forward to the weekend of worry ahead. :weep:

Taffy, just an extra note, if you have been having stomach issues and are on antibiotics make sure you take some probiotic yogurt daily (as long as you are not lactose intolerant). This will preserve your healthy bacteria in your intestines. ASDA has a really cheap, creamy plain one that is yummy.

No the rattle has gone but the nurse said I had one.

I just have a dry cough now and it hurts when I do.

I am on week 3 of it soon so it will take some time to shift.

You won't have lung cancer if you have never smoked - I am pretty sure of that
