Can you get HIV/ other blood-borne viruses from giving blood in the UK?

I wanna do the good deed of giving blood haha, but it's in an area which has a high number of HIV-positive people, so i am told.

Is this possible?

no... they actually make it quite hard to give blood in the UK (there are so many checks!!) I've tried but never been eligible through having had piercing, been to a tropical country or had an op.

It's def a good thing though.

All the equipment used in taking blood from you is sterile so there is not possible way you can get an infection of any kind from giving blood.

YOu def meant giving blood didn't you and not receiving blood?
