Hi all,

Just wondering if I'm the only one?

Sometimes I get the sensation that my breathing feels "heavy" if you know what I mean? Kind of like I can't take a full breath in?

It makes me worry that I might just stop breathing, which makes me anxious, which makes me panic.

At the moment I have a bit of a cough having had a heavy cold all week. I'm a smoker and have had bronchitis in the past, worried I might get that again which will make me stop breathing.

Can you just stop breathing?

Reassurance would be great, sorry if this seems as silly to you as it does to me

You won't just stop breathing, you brain is programmed to breath no matter what, even if you were under water!
The heavy breathing you describe sounds like anxiety. Try to relax you chest muscles and breath from your belly.

Thanks Mirabell :)

I think that logically I know that I won't stop breathing, but there's nothing logical about anxiety symptoms.

I have palpitations too and what seem like missed beats, but had a couple of ECG's which were both fine.

Thanks again x
